Do other meditations work for lowering high blood pressure?

Transcendental Meditation is the only relaxation technique that has been scientifically proven to effectively reduce high blood pressure. Other relaxation methods tested produced results that where not statistically significant when compared with controls.

The following meta-analysis, conducted by researchers at the NIH-funded Institute of Natural Medicine and Prevention and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, concludes. Results of meta-analyses showed that simple biofeedback, relaxation-assisted biofeedback, progressive muscle relaxation, and stress management training did not show statistically significant reductions in elevated blood pressure. Analysis of trials of the Transcendental Meditation program showed clinically and statistically significant changes in blood pressure (-5.0/-2.8 mm Hg).
